Local Governance and Infrastructure for Communities in Aceh (LOGICA)

Description

Following the devastation of the tragedy of the Boxing Day earthquake and tsunami, this project will assist Indonesians in re-establishing their community infrastructure and restoring local governance.

HAI with the support of AusAID is working to assist villagers, within the worst areas of Aceh province, to empower local communities to take charge of their own recovery.

Responsibilities

The project aims to assist the process of reconstructing homes and other buildings in villages in Aceh Besar, Aceh Jaya and Aceh Barat. The project has three components:

1. Re-establishing Land-Ownership. This component is primarily about land mapping.

2. Strengthening sub-District Governments. This component is to assist local (sub-District) government to better respond to the needs of communities.

3. Re-establishing Village level communities. This component is to support community development initiatives which develop the capacity of communities to address their own issues.
