DEVELOPMENT IMPACT GROUP

We all have a dream about making a difference, making positive impact or just being able to see small and gradual improvements in the livelihoods of the people we are working for in developing countries.

The Development Impact Group (DIG) has as its main objective to contribute to the continuous improvement of HAI’s development impact in the countries we are operating. In line with HAI’s vision and strategy the DIG will be leading the gathering, management and dissemination of knowledge and strive to apply past lessons learnt, good practices and innovative approaches in new and ongoing programs.

Often we are not in a country context long enough to see the planned changes or we don’t have the right tools to really measure if we are making or made a difference. The DIG has set as its first target to ensure that HAI’s programs are operating Monitoring and Evaluation systems of the highest standard and applying best available methodologies aligned with local systems and procedures. In 2007, the DIG will assist our programs to lift the level of monitoring & evaluation from measuring efficiency of outputs and overall program performance to also incorporate means of measuring effectiveness and development impacts.

The DIG will be consulting local and international field staff, beneficiary institutions and communities, development practitioners, researchers, clients, etc. to seek knowledge and innovation, to disseminate knowledge, to build capacity, and to pursue cooperation and harmonization. We believe that in order to make a difference and improve development impact and the livelihoods of the recipients of our services, we need to be on the forefront of managing and disseminating knowledge. This process can only be achieved by engaging with those who hold the knowledge and with those who have visions of how to make a difference. We are looking forward talking to you!
