Rural Community Impact Statement: Proposed Lease of NSW Government Owned Power Generation Assets and Sale of NSW GOvernment Owned Electricity Retail Businesses

GHD Hassall was contracted by NSW Treasury to prepare a Rural Communities Impact Statement (RCIS) to inform the NSW Government on the proposed sale and lease of state-owned electricity generation and retail businesses, and the effects the reforms may have on rural communities. The RCIS addressed the economic and social issues using a methodical approach to assess the elements of the proposed sale and lease. This was combined with a series of consultations to focus the investigation on perceived issues within rural communities. Targeted consultation was undertaken with energy sector employees and representative community groups, together with a public call for submissions.
